“Biomedicina con y para la Sociedad” (Biomedicine with society and for society) is a CIBER initiative through the Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine subject area that was funded by the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) – Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in the framework of Call for Aid for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Culture and Innovation 2014.
The project seeks to increase the scientific, technological and innovative culture in the biomedical sector and bridge the distances existing between the scientific world and the society through means of communication.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to help in the understanding of concepts relating to biomedical disciplines and their relevance in the prevention, detection and treatment of diseases.
As key points, they seek to eliminate false stereotypes about scientists and promote women as scientists, technologists and innovators and thereby encouraging gender equality in research and innovation, following the firm commitment of the different states of the European Union and UNESCO, creating reference models of this collective in the society.
